REVIEW OF THE ODYSSEY

  

There are movies that are made to ‘look’ realistic. And there are some which are made to be ‘felt’ realistic. Back then in the early 00, Gladiator & Troy were able to achieve the latter. CGI, No CGI, Doesn’t Matter! Because, you’ve LOTR with CGI in the same level of Gladiator; what at that time, Alexandar couldn’t achieve! Even honestly, 300, didn’t feel realistic, as it just looked realistic!

Now what does this ‘being realistic’ even mean? It means you’re engrossed in those two – three hours which can create another reality for you -> of that era, those surrounding, which would feel, as if some sort of Portal has been opened for you! The ODYSSEY is one such film that opens a portal of ‘being realistic’ for you.

You’re the Greeks in it! You’re the Gods! You’re the Monsters! You’re Sorcerous! You’re The Queen, The Prince. And You’re -> The Odysseus. And His Pain! As you can feel the Real Real in them, when diving into that Era!

There are Four things that makes a movie -> an epic masterpiece! Direction, overall Cinematography, the Protagonist’s or the Antagonist’s Performance, and, the Background Score! What made The Dark Knight different from other Batman series? It was the Heath Ledger’s Performance & Nolan’s Direction! What made Kill Bill different from Charlies Angels? It was Uma Thurman’s authentic expressions! And what makes The Odyssey today different from the other Epic tales being told? It is Matt Damon’s Performance, & Above All, Original Masterpiece Direction of -> Christopher Nolan!

Now, I’ve read that some people online have COMPLAINED about Hélène de Troie is being shown as a Black Girl, or, Sinon from the LGB community. Now tell me one thing! For how long they’ve been shown in the entire movie which stretches to around 3 hours? Hardly for 5 Mins! Correct? And let us say, as per the HOMER’s literature, you wanted to depict Hélène de Troie -> as a White Girl, and I’m not refuting your Claims! You are Correct, as, History should be shown on ‘AS IS’ basis! BUT, can’t you all accept few artistic modifications or upgradations while evaluating a MASTERPEICE Movie like The ODYSSEY?

Look, anything followed in verbatim brings chaos! So goes for the Literature! There should be some flexibility been given! And thus, your Complaints Cannot Overshadow -> The ODYSSEY. It’s an exceptionally made Masterpiece of our time, and one must dive into it & feel Realistic!

This is a movie that should be considered to be watched even as part of your College Curriculum. About the Odysseus’s dilemmas, his betrayals, his regrets, his exile, his wrong judgements, his sacrifices, and finally, his surrender to the Fate!

All said and done, The ODYSSEY is an exceptional brilliant masterpiece artistic work of Christopher Nolan. Go and Watch Near your Theatres! 

REVIEW OF SuperGIRL

 

Firstly, I’m so thankful that it wasn’t entirely shot on Planet Earth :). Thus, that’s a plus point of this Movie! Secondly, the story is the admixture of John Wick (How Dare One Touch My Dog), to, the same ultimate Revenge story. Thus, from the story point of view, it is banal, and therefore you don’t have much to dissect to write in extensive! YET, there are some things that was worth watching for!

Now why I went to watch this yesterday, because, I like Superman. So, I wanted to know how his cousin looks like! And what I found? She has the power of Superman; She is immunized to what can even kill Superman; despite she bleeds; and a pinch of behavioural characteristics that’s been adapted from Batman -> you know, being gloomy all the time; enjoying by herself, not interested in the daily Thomas Crown Affair, until, someone like Joker comes to instigate; in this case, it was KREM!

But I’ve just one complaint! The Musical Songs! They could’ve chosen from the Jukebox many more, rather, the musical songs included, were more country specific, despite having such a great background score! If you’ve seen the trailer, then in between there’s for a split second this electric guitar is played, and I honestly went to the movie more than knowing the cousin of Superman; to basically listen to the musical scores, which I anticipated would be enjoyable! You know sometimes, there’s a split-second moment what attracts you, and that I heard in the trailer; but alas, that was missing in the entire movie itself!

Now, beyond the CGI, in which the Hollywood has already perfected, what else it can offer! Means, an Addition to that! For example, almost everyone once upon a time thought that only Kung-Fu can be expected from the East Asian Cinema! But then came the alliance of John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat, that changed that perception! The same goes for the Hollywood! Once upon a time we thought only those deformed faces can define Horror flicks with loud music, but, then came Obsession & Companion, which changed the perception how horror flicks can also be made by Hollywood.

And as much I liked Superman, I liked his cousin also, SuperGIRL! Yet, beyond those CGI, what else! For example, Man Of Steel too was full of CGI, but that speed of light action sequences introduced for the first time, altered its Genre.

All said done, a good weekend watch! 😊

The Evolution Of The Action Movies Genre……

 

Bring back from Chow Yun Fat, to, John Woo,

And likes of The Killer; Tom Cruise’s M.I. -> 2;

The Matrix that coated aesthetics on series,

And where The Raid<->Tom Yum Goong, greets.

Wherein more in John Wick, you see Reaves,

Tales of Kung-Fu from Jackie Chan to Jet Lee!

Stallone’s Rambo always received Red Carpet,

Alike Jean Claude, who ne’er missed Hard Target!

On the way, one may encounter w/ The Furious,

Who are The Expendables or Bad Boys in Real!

And if in case Fast & Furious Cars break down, Sigh!

REVIEW OF THE FURIOUS

 

Once upon a time, we watched Chow Yun Fat Acted, John Woo Directed flicks, and those typical Cantonese Style Action Packed Movies! Remember The Killer (‘89)? One of my favourite! Before that, those Kung-Fu fights flicks’ watched in the School Days. From Jackie Chan to Jet Lee, and then, to Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo, to, Jean Claude Van Damme’s Hard Target (again one of my favourite). The anticipated Genre always delivered! Just like in those School Days when I watched Endless Love (‘81) of the Romantic Genre because of, and for, the character JADE in it.

Moving on, The Matrix came which altered the aesthetics of The Action Genre. Then, M.I. – 2 (one of my all-time favourite), which added cherry on top of the cake. And then, there was Tom Yum Goong!

Then I thought, this may the extent to which the action genre can be stretched.

But one day, they introduced Rama’s The RAID (‘11), and then, The RAID 2 (‘14). Excellent execution of No-Guns fights, that Refined the already defined Action Genre!

Time passed, and again I thought, that was the top, Action Genre can reach. But, in between John Wick & The Expendables Series came, which added new flavours to the action genre. You know, in Sci-Fi and Action, we’ve seen the exponential rise in the Quality, but ne’er in the Romantic flicks. I’m still stuck with the character JADE of Endless Love (‘81)!

So, after John Wick, I once again had a thought, as now what else is left in the Action Genre! But then came -> The Furious. I watched it couple of days back, and, I was stunned with the Action. Just look at the execution in the end! It is so difficult to manage when 5 individuals are fighting with each other, giving one of the most perfect executions.

The Furious passes the litmus test of a Novel kind of Action Genre. I went to watch novel kind of Action entertainment, and I found what I went for! The story we’ve already seen and heard, like in The Taken, BUT, the Actions, this is a new addition to the Genre! We might have to wait for some more years before more novel things are added to this.  

The Furious is an Addition, NOT a Repetition!  

 All said and done, a good watch!😊
