You don’t get to watch in cinemas such adaptations these days. The Fairy tale adaptations are either inundated with boring screaming songs by mainstream singer or artists sponsored by specific groups, eclipsing their charm, or, they’re in hurry as if they want to escape from the fairy land. Or maybe sometimes brainwashed with idiosyncratic doctrines.
I watched it right now, and at the Coffee Shop I’m writing this Review this time, because, I couldn’t wait to publish this. Yes, there were some hiccups in the flick itself, and had it been edited to around 20-25 minutes, then this would’ve been on the top of my playlist. But it reignited my own childhood era.
Most of the flicks made on adaptations have a girl playing the lead role. But in this, you’ve Tim Thompson, and I would say, he is the Protagonist, for the reason, he laid the foundation of the presence and the belief of The Magic Faraway Tree at the first place.
You might still be wondering why I’m making Tim as the Protagonist, despite his three kids actually being the ones. But, honestly, had it not been or for the character Tim, then, the three musketeers also wouldn’t have known or believed in the presence of elves and fairies.
Once again, the background score is the spinal cord of any movie. And like an enchanted charm, this movie passes the litmus test. The best part of the story is Peace in it. You would experience tranquillity. Despite having Prison’s Dame, despite having enchantments, yet, there’s no compulsion or detestation or un-refined wordings that would make you feel as if you’re part of some sorcery itself; than a part fairy tale land. And yes, I don’t want to name many of them that ended up being not being what ought to have been the original adaptation, but, this was something different. Peace! Again, some part of it should’ve been trimmed, yet, it felt like when EGO of The Ratatouille in the end is sent back to his childhood whilst tasting Remy’s finest recipe. If you’ve read and read a lot about fantasy, watched fantasies, and, actually lived fantasy; then you would be able to relate with Tim Thompson or his kids; just like EGO.
All said and done, I would say, this is one of most REFINED Fairytale flick I’ve seen in the recent times. The Faces have certain calmness. And so as the Characters.
